Police appeal after burglar is spotted breaking in to Ilkeston home

A burglar was disturbed by the owner of a house that he was breaking into in Ilkeston.

The offender had forced the lock on the back door of a house in Nottingham Road, which alerted the occupants.

He was then seen stepping in through the door but fled before getting any further into the house.

The burglar was white, aged between 20 and 25, about 5ft 7ins and with short, blond hair.

The offence took place at about 9pm on Sunday, June 15.

Police want to hear from anyone who might know someone matching that description, or might have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the offence.
