Motorcyclist dies after collision between bike and car on Snake Pass

A 62-year-old motorcyclist died after the bike he was riding on the A57 Snake Pass was in collision with a car.

The incident happened at about 11.20am on Sunday, March 9 on a stretch of the Snake Pass near Glossop.

A black Kawasaki motorbike travelling from the direction of Glossop was in collision with a Citroen C4 Picasso travelling the other way.

The motorbike rider, from Manchester, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The road was closed shortly after the incident and was reopened again at 3.50pm.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or either vehicle prior to contact them on the non-emergency number, 101.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire Constabulary’s collision investigation unit, quoting incident number 316 of March 9.
