Allenton man seriously injured during an assault

Posted on 12th May 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a 21-year-old Allenton man when he was walking home on April 28.

The man was walking towards the canal path at its junction on Uppermoor Road near Allenton shops at about 10.10pm on Monday April 28, when he was approached from behind.

He was hit in the face, with what he believes was a pole or bat, and fell to the ground.  He saw the legs and feet of about five people before he fell unconscious.  He can give no descriptions of the people involved.  After he regained consciousness he went home.  Nothing was stolen from him.

In the morning he visited hospital and was found to have two fractures to his jaw, a suspected fracture to his eye socket and other head injuries.

Anyone who has any information that would help the police investigation should contact officers on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
