Two birds of prey were stolen after thieves broke into an aviary in the garden of a Spondon home.
A European eagle owl and a kestrel had been kept in the locked aviary at a house in Holme Lane.
Thieves broke into the aviary by cutting the padlocks and removed the two birds between 7.30pm on Saturday, May 10 and 9.45am the next morning.
Both animals had been rescued by the owner and the kestrel has a damaged wing and cannot fly.
Police want to hear from anyone who knows the location of the birds or knows who might have stolen them.
Witnesses or anyone with information on the offence should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
