Burglar jailed for three years after stealing from city centre home

A burglar has been jailed for three years after admitting breaking into a house in Derby and stealing valuables from inside.

Craig Topham pleaded guilty to burgling the house in Old Chester Road on Friday, May 2 and taking items including a wristwatch, tobacco and computer games.

The 44-year-old also admitted possessing cannabis after police searched him and found the class B drug on him.

Topham, of Heathermead Close, Oakwood, was sentenced to three years in prison for the burglary offence at Derby Crown Court on May 16.

He was also given a one-month sentence for possessing a class B controlled drug on the same date.
