Woman arrested in connection with Matlock stabbing

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Matlock.

Police were called to the Lumsdale Crescent area of the Hurst Farm estate at about 2.15pm yesterday (17) after reports that a man had been stabbed in the chest.

The victim, aged 26, was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

A 25-year-old woman from Matlock was last night arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.

It was originally reported that the victim had been stabbed by one of two men who had approached him in the street but detectives do not now believe that to have been the case.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to call them on 101, quoting incident 396 of November 17.
