Witness appeal following early-morning assault in Glossop street

Police are appealing for witnesses after a couple were assaulted while walking along a Glossop street in the early hours of the morning.

The victims were walking along High Street East, near the junction with Norfolk Street, when they were involved in an argument with two others.

During the argument, the victims – a man and woman both aged 30 – were assaulted. The woman suffered an injury to her back and the man was knocked unconscious.

A 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were arrested in connection with the assault and have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, which happened at about 2.30am on the morning of Sunday, November 16.

Anyone who might have been walking in the area around that time, or who saw the incident take place, should call police on 101, quoting crime reference 48588/14.
