Posted on 27th November 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after a pregnant woman had her handbag stolen as she stood at a bus stop.

The 32-year-old victim had been standing at a bus stop in Derby Road, Chellaston, near to the Tesco Express store.

A man walked up from behind her and grabbed her bag, which contained cash and bank cards.

The victim struggled to hold on to her bag and fell to the floor during the robbery, after which the offender ran off in the direction of Manor Road. The victim, who is 32 weeks pregnant, was not seriously injured but was taken to Royal Derby Hospital for a check-up.

The robbery happened at about 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 26.

The offender was white, about 5ft 5ins, of slim build and aged under 30. He wore a dark jacket and dark trousers.

Police want to hear from witnesses who may have seen a man matching that description in the area around the time, or from anyone who saw the robbery take place.

Witnesses should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 50236/14.
