Officers seek man who alerted them to injured man in Derby

Police appeal for witnesses after a man is assaulted in Derby.

On Saturday, September 20 at 1.05am a man on a pedal cycle attracted the attention of officers who were on patrol in the city centre area.

The man directed officers to a man that had been assaulted on the River Gardens who was sat on a bench.

The injured man had suffered cuts to his face. He told police that earlier that evening as he was walking between the crown court and the bus station he was met with a group of people consisting of 2/3 men and 2/3 women. The group were described as all being in their late 20s to early 30s and spoke with foreign accents.

Members of the group assaulted the man causing him to lose consciousness.

Police would like to speak to the man on the pedal cycle who alerted them to the incident.
