On Sunday, October 12 at 1.15am a 24-year-old man was walking home from a night out along a path that runs alongside Ashbourne Memorial Gardens, near to Cokayne Avenue when he was approached by a man.

The man put his arm around the victim’s neck and pulled him to the ground whilst demanding money. The victim threw cash on the floor and the man let go of him, he pushed through a bush onto the park and ran off.

Whilst this was taking place a man walked past the incident towards the town centre.

Police would like to speak to this man. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Tim Lambert at Matlock CID using the non-emergency 101 number.
