Would-be robber sought by police in Allenton

Posted on 22nd October 2014

Police in Derby are searching for a man who tried to steal a chain from a woman’s neck as she walked along an Allenton street.

At about 3.35pm on Monday October 20 a 26-year-old woman was walking down Flint Street with her three children in the direction of Lord Street.  As she stopped to cross Flint Street a black man walked towards her and grabbed at a chain around her neck.  She shouted and ran off up Flint Street empty-handed.

She described the would-be robber as between 25 and 30-years-old, about 5 feet 6 to 8 inches tall, of slim build and clean-shaven.  He was wearing a black woollen hat, a dark fleece and grey jogging bottoms.

Anyone who has information about the offence should contact DC Manjit Rigby on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
