Teen charged after alleged attempted robbery on Alvaston park

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an alleged attempted robbery on a city park.

A 13-year-old boy was cycling through parkland off Shardlow Road, Alvaston, when he was stopped by a group of four youths.

One of the group then allegedly threatened to assault the victim unless he handed over his bike. The group left empty handed shortly afterwards.

Police investigating the incident, which happened at about 3.30pm on Sunday, August 31, want to hear from any witnesses.

They are particularly keen to trace a couple who had been walking a dog nearby and stopped to see what was happening.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 36694/14.

A 13-year-old boy was charged with attempted robbery in connection with the incident and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, September 2.
