Photo of Glossop assault victim issued as police re-appeal for witnesses

Officers investigating an assault in Glossop have released a picture of the man’s injuries.

John Wrigley (29) was assaulted at about 8pm on Saturday August 30, 2014 at the junction of Henry Street and Norfolk Street in Glossop.

Detective Inspector Shaun McElheron, who is leading the investigation, said: “The assault happened in a busy part of the town near the railway station.  We know that there were many people in the area who have not yet contacted the police.

“John’s family has agreed to release this photograph to encourage anyone who has information to contact us.  I’m asking the people who walked past as this assault was happening to look at the picture of John and have the courage to come forward and tell us what they saw.”

Five people have been charged in connection with the assault and are due to appear at court on Monday September 15, 2014.
