Posted on 11th September 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after two incidents occurred in Charlotte Street, Ilkeston, in the early hours of this morning.

At this stage of the investigation both incidents are being treated separately and two inquiries are being conducted.

A murder investigation has been launched into the death of a man who was found with stab wounds at residential premises on the street.  At 5.40am today (Thursday September 11) police received calls to say two men had been seriously injured at the property.

One of the injured men was pronounced dead at the scene while the second, a 23-year-old, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he is receiving treatment.

Officers would like to clarify that the man who died has not yet been identified and his age has not yet been established.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Ten minutes before the assaults were reported officers were called to a robbery at the One Stop store on the same street.

Witnesses or anyone with information about either incident should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
