Police appeal for witnesses after incident in Glossop

Posted on 15th September 2014

Police in Glossop are investigating an incident involving a 12-year-old girl and are appealing for witnesses.

On Sunday, September 14 at 5pm a 12-year-old girl was walking along a footpath between New Road and West Drive when a man jumped over a gate from Tintwistle allotments.

As the man landed on the floor he put his arms around the girl, the girl then pushed his arms away and she ran off.

The man was described as 20-years-old and was wearing a black hooded coat with a white zip, trainers and a baseball cap which was red on the front.

Police would like to end rumours that there have been similar incidents in the area recently. A report was received that two 10-year-old boys had gone missing from their home in Tintwistle on Saturday, September 13. The boys were found safe and well by police near to their home. They told officers that they had been chased by a man, however this proved to be a man that was helping to locate them.

Anyone with information on the incident on Sunday is asked to contact Glossop police using the 101 number.
