Two charged with robbery after woman has purse taken in city street

Two women have been charged with robbery following an incident where a woman was allegedly head butted before having her purse stolen.

The 21-year-old victim was walking along Park Street, Derby, when she was approached by two women who asked her for directions.

As she walked, the victim said one of the women tried to take her purse and, when she resisted, she was head butted.

Her purse was then stolen in the incident, which happened at about 10.30pm on Saturday, September 13.

Two women were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have now been charged.

They are Alice Connors, 20, of Terrace Road, Birmingham, and Maxine Stannard, 24, of no fixed abode.

They were remanded in custody to appear at court at a later date.
