Posted on 19th September 2014

A woman had a large amount of cash stolen from her handbag by a thief who struck while she was out shopping.

The 71-year-old victim and her husband had been shopping in Intu Derby and went into the Fultons Foods store in the city centre.

They then left the shopping centre and headed to Albert Street, where they got onto a bus.

Shortly after getting on the bus, the victim realised her bag was open and a large amount of cash was missing from inside.

The theft happened at about 12.25pm on Wednesday, September 17.

Officers investigating the offence have now released CCTV footage of two women they want to speak to.

One of the women was described as of European appearance, about 5ft tall, slim build and with long dark hair. She was wearing a dark coat and a lighter coloured scarf.
