Woman falls off mobility scooter after Alvaston street robbery

A 67-year-old woman fell off her mobility scooter after a robber grabbed her handbag with such force that it pulled her from the seat.

The victim was in Grange Road when the robbery took place at about 8am on Sunday, April 5.

A man approached her and grabbed her bag, then pulled it and forced the victim out of her seat and to the pavement.

The offender then ran off towards Shardlow Road with the bag, containing a white iPhone and a purse with cash.

He was Asian, aged about 18 or 19, of slim build, and was wearing a grey hoodie.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Royal Derby Hospital for a check-up and later discharged.

Detectives investigating the offence want to hear from anyone who saw it happen, or who might recognise the description of the offender.
