CCTV image of man detectives would like to speak to

Detectives investigating an attempted robbery on a busy Derby road have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to regarding the offence.

At around 6pm on Tuesday December 15, a 61-year-old woman was walking along Burton Road, just past the Manor Pharmacy, when a man cycled past her and grabbed her handbag. The woman refused to let it go and the pair tussled, ending up in the road.

Having shouted out, two passers-by came to her assistance and the man cycled off, empty-handed, down Spa Lane.

The woman, although shaken after the incident, was uninjured and nothing was stolen.

DC Paul Adkin, who is investigating the incident, said: “The image was taken in a premises close to the incident and we are keen to speak to the individual about the circumstances surrounding the offence.”

“We would ask him, or anyone who knows who he, is to contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Paul Adkin on 101, quoting crime number 54176/15, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
