Posted on 17th February 2015

Police are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was robbed in Swadlincote on Valentine’s Day.

At about 6.30pm on Saturday February 14 a 17-year-old girl was approached as she walked along Coppice Side.  A man grabbed her wrist and tried to steal her phone.  She hit him with a bunch of flowers she was carrying but he managed to steal her handbag and run off.

The girl described her assailant as white and clean shaven.  He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up.  He ran towards a grey Ford Ka that was parked near Morrison’s supermarket and was driven away by a woman with brown hair in a bun.  The victim had previously seen the car and its occupants parked in the taxi pick-up point outside the store.

Anyone who saw the robbery or has any information about the suspects should contact DC Becky Turner on 101, quoting the crime reference 6546/15 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
