A Chesterfield FC supporter has been charged with making offensive remarks online following a home match against Bradford City.

The comments were posted to a League One fans’ page on the social networking site Facebook, and referred to the Bradford City fire disaster of 1985.

They were made following Chesterfield FC’s home defeat to Bradford on Saturday, December 13. Some of the remarks were allegedly racist in tone.

Mark Randall was arrested at his home in Chesterfield Road, Pleasley, Mansfield, on suspicion of causing racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress by words or writing.

The 45-year-old is due to appear at North Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court on March 17.
