Police release CCTV images in an attempt to trace a couple seen on Green Lane in Derby

Posted on 9th January 2015

Officers investigating the death of Melvyn Hargreaves, who was assaulted in the early hours of Friday Jan 2 on Mercian Way in Derby, have appealed for two people to contact them.

The couple have been caught on CCTV cameras walking up Green Lane in Derby at 12.35am that same morning.  Officers believe they may have seen the man suspected of assaulting Mr Hargreaves.

Detective Sergeant Chris Waters said: “The CCTV images are unclear but we hope that the couple will recognise themselves or their friends may identify them.”

The couple or anyone who knows them should contact DS Waters on 101 and ask for the incident room at St Mary’s Wharf police station.

Samuel Watts (22) has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Monday January 5.  His next court appearance will be at Derby Crown Court on January 19.
