Man left with serious head injury following an assault in Normanton

A man suffered serious head injuries after he was assaulted in Normanton.

At around 11pm on Saturday, March 7, a man was found injured at the junction of Newdigate Street and Balaclava Road.

The 28-year-old had suffered a head injury and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Witnesses have reported seeing a man with a small Jack Russell-type dog running away along Hampden Street at the time.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault, or who stopped to help the victim afterwards.
