Man charged in connection with two alleged shop robberies

A 19-year-old man has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery at two shops in the Alfreton area.

Cash was stolen from the Premier Express store in Mansfield Road, Alfreton, shortly after 7am on Saturday, February 28.

Later the same day, a man walked into the Stop and Shop store in Market Street, South Normanton and allegedly threatened staff, but left empty-handed.

Brett France was arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery, and has now been charged.

The 19-year-old, of Sough Road, South Normanton, is due to attend Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
