Witnesses sought following alleged assault and shoplifting in Derby

Police are seeking witnesses after a woman was allegedly assaulted by shoplifters.

Officers were called to Morrisons, at the Meteor Centre, Derby, shortly before 2pm today (Tuesday, March 10) following reports that a woman had been assaulted while confronting people she suspected of shoplifting.  The group left the area in a car.

Police searched the area and found a car matching the description in Alfreton Road, arresting four people at the scene.

One woman has been released without charge while the man (17) and two women, aged 17 and 19, remain in custody and are being questioned. The victim was not seriously hurt.
