Renewed appeal for information on the one week anniversay of a serious assault

Posted on 15th March 2015

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Normanton are re-appealing for witnesses one week after the attack.

At around 11pm on Saturday, March 7, a man was found injured at the junction of Newdigate Street and Balaclava Road.

The 28-year-old had suffered a head injury and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Last night, on the week anniversary of the assault, officers visited the area where the crime took place in a bid to trace witnesses who may have been there last Saturday evening.

They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm, questioned and released on bail while inquiries continue.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
