Police in Dronfield dispel urban myth that dogs are being poisoned in the area.
Officers in the Dronfield area would like to reassure the public that rumours about dogs being poisoned in the area are not true.
Sergeant Aidan Stones from North East Derbyshire Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “There has been one unexplained death of a young dog almost a month ago, but we have received no reports of dogs being poisoned in the area.
“It is also rumoured that police and dog wardens have been searching parks and distributing leaflets, this is untrue.
“We have heard that local residents are not exercising their dogs as they are worried about them eating something that may harm them. I would like to remind all dog owners to exercise the usual caution as to what their dogs are picking up and eating and report anything suspicious to the police on 101.
