Witness appeal to attempted robbery on Mother's Day

Posted on 24th March 2015

Police investigating the attempted robbery of a woman in a Derby street are appealing for witnesses.

The 54-year-old victim was walking along Arleston Lane, in Stenson Fields, close to the Asda roundabout, when she saw three men nearby.

One of the men started following her and as he walked past, he grabbed the handbag on her shoulder.

The victim kept hold of her bag and the offender fled after a short struggle.

The attempted robbery took place at about 12.20pm on Sunday, March 15.

Police want to hear from witnesses or anyone who was in the area around that time, who might have seen the offender.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to any drivers who passed the victim and the offender as the would-be robbery was taking place.

The offender was white, in his early 20s, about 5ft 7ins and of slim build. He wore a blue flat peak baseball cap, a blue tracksuit and blue trainers.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 11695/15. You can also call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
