Detectives investigating a robbery and theft from two premises in Heanor have released images of a man they want to speak to.

The first incident happened at News 4 You, in the Market Place, at about 6.30am today.

A man dressed in light brown trousers, a flat cap, black gloves and what appeared to be a tweed jacket, walked into the shop.

He passed a note to the cashier before taking a large amount of money and running off.

At about 12.40pm, a man with the same description walked into Hanson’s Garage, at the junction of Heanor Gate Road and Thorpes Road.

He asked for cigarettes and when the cashier turned around, he leapt over the counter and took money from the till before running off towards Heanor town centre.
