Mackworth officers arrest suspected drug dealer

Posted on 20th May 2016

Officers from Mackworth Safer Neighbourhood Team have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.

At 4pm yesterday (Thursday May 19) the officers stopped and searched a suspect on Old Lane at Darley Abbey and found what they believe was a controlled drug. He was also found to be carrying a large amount of cash.

The suspect, who lives in Mackworth, was questioned and released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The Mackworth Safer Neighbourhood team is urging the public to continue to give them information about suspected drug dealing.

Sergeant Mark Preston said: “We will continue to act on community intelligence and take positive action to tackle suspected drug suppliers.  The supply of cannabis is a contributing factor to issues of anti-social behaviour so we’re encouraging the local community to contact us with any information to assist us.”

Anyone with information about drugs or any other crime can contact the team on 101 or through the Contact Us section of our website here.
