Witnesses sought following an alleged assault at a rugby match

We’re appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault at a rugby match.

On the evening of Wednesday, March 22, Matlock and Glossop rugby clubs played a match at Cromford Meadows, Mill Road, Cromford.

Toward the end of the match, at about 8.50pm, the referee stopped the game because of a foul and an altercation took place between opposing players where a Matlock player was punched in the face.

He suffered a broken eye socket, fractured cheek bone and broken nose.
