Man dies following a collision in Hilton

We're appealing for information about a fatal collision in Hilton.

At 4.50pm yesterday our officers were called to Main Street to a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

Officers attended and a 75-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 24-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody and enquiries are continuing.

We would like anyone who was in the area around the time who may have dashboard camera footage, or anyone with information relating to the incident, to contact us on 101 quoting incident number 659 of April 11.

Prior to the collision, a vehicle was being pursued by our officers.

This has now been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
