Teenager has bicycle stolen on canal path

Posted on 18th April 2017

A 15-year-old boy was pushed off his bicycle by a youth who then rode off on it.

The victim had been riding along the old canal path cycle route where it runs past Merrill Academy at Brackens Lane when he was attacked.

He was pushed off the bike by a youth, who was part of a larger group. The youth then rode off on the bike along the canal path towards the Boulton Lane end.

The robbery happened at about 2.30pm on Friday, April 7 and our detectives believe there were a number of potential witnesses in the area at that time.

If you witnessed the robbery, saw a group of youths on the canal path around that time, or have seen the bike since, please get in touch as soon as you can.

The bike was black with red flashes on the frame, but we’re not certain of the make or model.

If you saw anything and have yet to get in touch, please call DC Lucy Irwin on 101, quoting reference 17000146087.
