Our detectives, who are investigating a burglary of an elderly woman’s house in Woodville, have released CCTV images of two women they would like to speak to.

Earlier this month between 4 and 4.45pm on Tuesday, April 4 someone stole a handbag and its contents from an 83 year-old woman’s house on Ashby Road, Woodville, Swadlincote.

It is thought that the offence may have happened when the victim was mowing the lawn and the offenders took the opportunity to sneak-in through an unlocked front door.

Several withdrawals and purchases were later made using the victim's cash card. The released images are taken at the cash point at the Asda shop at the nearby Toll Gate.

DC Paul Adkin, who is investigating the offence, said: “Due to the age of the victim this is a particularly cruel offence targeting an elderly, vulnerable victim.

“We would like to speak to the two women shown in the footage in connection with the crime and would ask that if anyone knows who they are or has any information they make contact with us”
