Posted on 16th August 2017

One of our officers is asking for witnesses to come forward after a 15 year-old boy was assaulted in the Intu Centre, Derby last month.

The incident happened in the food court area at around 4.10pm on Thursday, July 27 when the victim was reported to be knocked to the floor where he was punched and kicked to the head resulting in a swollen lip, nose and right eye.

An 18 year-old young man from Derby has been arrested and interviewed regarding the allegation and has been bailed pending further enquiries. Now the officer dealing with the case is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to make contact with him.

PC Rorry Head said: “We have interviewed a suspect with regard to this reported assault and also spoken to a number of the group who were present at the time.

“We know that there were a number of passers-by who may have seen the incident unfold and we would be particularly interested in speaking to them to gain a better understanding of what happened.”
