Posted on 7th December 2017

Police officers are holding two street meet events in Ilkeston this week as the investigation into the rape of a woman in the town continues.

On Thursday officers will be at the Tesco supermarket in Rutland Street between 9am and 2.30pm.

On Friday the Post Office in Nottingham Road will be the location of the event, again between the hours of 9am and 2.30pm.

Sergeant Damien Shannon, Safer Neighbourhoods Sergeant for Erewash, said: “Members of the public who have any concerns or information in relation to this incident should come along to these events.

“Pieces of information, no matter how small they may seem, could be absolutely crucial in finding the person responsible.

“If you can’t make the event but still want to speak to an officer then please call 101 quoting reference number 17000514655.”

In the early hours of Sunday, November 26 a woman was walking along Queens Avenue, when she was approached by a man.

The man then dragged her across the road and she was raped.

The man was described as white, 5ft 7-8ins tall, between 35-45 years-old, of a medium build and was wearing a grey tracksuit with the hood worn up and the lower part of his face covered.
