Pedestrian left with serious injuries following a collision

Posted on 8th February 2017

We're appealing for witnesses to a serious collision at Pride Park.

At around 5.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, February 7), a flatbed van collided with a pedestrian in Riverside Road.

The incident happened on the pedestrian crossing near to the Volkswagen and Seat car showrooms.

The 25-year-old pedestrian was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham with significant head injuries. He remains in a serious condition.

We arrested the 23-year-old driver on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has been released on bail while we continue our inquiry.

The road had to be closed for several hours while we carried out the initial part of the investigation and we appreciate that this would have caused disruption during the rush hour. We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we worked to re-open the road.

Anyone with information should call us on 101 quoting reference 17000054968.
