Our roads policing officers are turning to the public for help in tracing a car that was close to a head-on collision on the A52.
The incident happened on a stretch of the road near Shirley, between Derby and Ashbourne, at about 4.45pm on January 27.
A silver Peugeot 406 was heading towards Ashbourne when a red Mini travelling in the opposite direction swerved to avoid another car.
The Peugeot and the Mini collided head on and the 86-year-old driver needed hospital treatment. She has since been released from hospital and is recovering at home.
It’s been reported to us that the Mini had swerved to avoid a silver 4x4, possibly a BMW, which had allegedly braked hard just in front of the Mini.
We want to speak to the driver of the 4x4 and would urge that person, or anyone who knows who it is, to get in touch.
Anyone who saw the manner of driving of the vehicles should call PC Karl Jackson on 101, quoting incident 792 of January 27.
Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us.
You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
