New officers complete the first phase of their training

Posted on 17th February 2017

A former Royal Marines Commando and an ex-PE teacher are among 16 new police constables being sworn in at a special ceremony tonight.

The nine women and seven men will be welcomed to the force by Assistant Chief Constable Chris Haward, the High Sheriff of Derbyshire Elizabeth Fothergill and Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa.

They range in age from 22 to 38 and will serve across the county. Five of the new constables are already used to life on the beat having previously served as PCSOs.

You can watch part of tonight’s ceremony via Facebook Live, which will feature a question and answer session with one of our senior officers.
