A thief has stolen a statue from a grave in Derby – three years after the grave was last targeted.

The family of the deceased woman visited the grave, at the Nottingham Road cemetery in Chaddesden, at 1pm on February 6 and realised that since their last visit on January 24, someone had stolen a statue from the site similar to the one in this picture.

The stolen angel differs slightly from the one pictured as it had been painted gold. The family had bought it to replace a bronze statue of the Madonna which had been stolen from the grave in January 2014.

Investigating officer PCSO Matthew Thurman said: “This is understandably very distressing for the family involved, especially as this is the second time the grave has been targeted, and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PCSO Thurman on 101, quoting reference 17000054558.
