Woman assaulted in Buxton

We’re seeking information about an incident where a woman was assaulted on Harpur Hill Road, in Buxton between 5.45 and 6am this morning (Friday February 24).

During the assault a man tried to take the victim’s handbag.

The suspect is described as being white and in his late 20s. He was wearing a long navy blue or black anorak with fur around the hood, black trousers and black shoes. He also is believed to have had a distinctive walk.

The 52-year-old local woman was not injured.

Detective Constable Toby Maddock, who is investigating the assault would like to speak to anyone who may have information about this incident or who was in the area around the time.
