Road re-opened following a serious collision

Posted on 13th February 2017

A road has reopened this morning following a serious collision last night.

We were called to Wilmore Road, Sinfin, at around 9.30pm after witnesses reported a Ford Mondeo had collided with the back of a Mitsubishi Trojan and then come to rest against a nearby lamppost.

The two men in the Ford were trapped and needed to be cut free. The driver, a 27-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre where he remains.

His 31-year-old passenger was also injured and he was taken to hospital.

The Mitsubishi driver was left shaken by the crash.

We closed the road while the injured men were freed, the debris cleared and initial investigations carried out. It was reopened at around 7am.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call us on 101, quoting reference 17000062609.

You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
