Cyclist on orange bike may have information to help detectives investigating a stabbing

Posted on 5th January 2017

We are trying to trace a cyclist who was seen on an orange bike at around the time of a stabbing in Derby.

Detectives investigating the crime believe the cyclist could have witnessed something which may help the inquiry and are urging him or her to come forward.

Sometime between 4.45pm and 5.10pm on Thursday, December 8, a man heard a knock at the door of his house in Webster Street.

When he opened the door, a man stabbed him in the chest. Shocked, the victim shut the door and therefore did not get a good look at his attacker. He was treated at hospital and has since been discharged.

We have carried out extensive house to house inquiries and checked local CCTV, which captured a person on an orange bike in the area at 4.45pm. The footage is not of a good enough quality to be released but we are asking the rider to come forward.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DC Carly Hazeldine on 101, quoting reference 16000405595.
