Man arrested in connection with incident at Spondon house

We have arrested a man in connection with an incident at a house where a man and woman were found injured.

We were called to Avondale Road, Spondon, at about 2.45am on Saturday, January 7, after receiving a report that a man and a woman in their 50s were injured in a house.

The man, aged 56, and woman, aged 59, were taken to hospital for treatment. The man has now been discharged from hospital and is in police custody where he is being questioned by detectives.

The woman is still in hospital in a serious condition having suffered a significant head injury.
