Man and boy arrested following a pursuit

Posted on 5th July 2017

A man and a teen have been arrested after officers pursued a car through south Derbyshire.

A Volkswagen Golf made off from officers at 3.40am today (Wednesday, July 5) along the A6 Wilmorton stretch.

The car allegedly sped off and specially trained officers followed. The Golf continued toward Castle Donington, past Donington Park and through Swadlincote and was stopped by use of a stinger device on the A514 near Calke Abbey.

Two people were arrested in a nearby field. A 16-year-old Woodville boy was arrested on suspicion of theft of a car, dangerous driving and failing to stop. A 21-year-old Derby man was arrested on suspicion of the same offences and also of obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty.

They both remain in custody and are being questioned.
