Posted on 19th July 2017

We have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body in Derby.

Officers were called to Meynell Street in Normanton at around 7.30am this morning (Wednesday, July 19).

On arrival, a man was found with an injury to his throat. He was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

A short time later, officers discovered the body of a 52-year-old man in a house on the same street. The two men are thought to know each other.

Senior investigating officer DCI Gareth Meadows said: "This is an ongoing investigation and I would appeal for witnesses, or anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious, to come forward and speak to us."

We are appealing for information relating to this inquiry. Anyone with information is asked to ring 101 quoting incident number 135 of July 19.
