We’re appealing for witnesses to a series of robberies and attempted robberies in Hadfield and Glossop.
We are linking the crimes and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
At around 5.20pm on Tuesday, June 27, a teenaged boy and girl were approached by a man on a motorbike in Waterside, Hadfield.
The rider demanded their phones but they refused. One victim flagged down a passing car and the would-be robber rode off.
We’re trying to trace the driver of that car and a man wearing shorts, who walked by at the time with his dog.
This crime is being linked to a similar one which happened at around the same time. The rider approached a man on Dinting Road, Glossop and demanded his phone but the victim ran off.
As he ran, he saw a man with blonde dreadlocked hair and he told him about the attempted robbery. We are interested in speaking to this passer-by in case he is a witness.
The motorbike is black with a red or orange stripe and has been used in subsequent robberies we have already issued appeals about. One took place at around 3.10pm on Wednesday, July 12, halfway along the footpath that runs under Dinting Viaduct connecting Dinting Road and the A57 while the other occurred at 3.20pm that day on Vale House Drive, Hadfield.
These robberies were committed by two men on the same motorbike.
Witnesses or anyone with information should call DCs Toby Maddock or Graham Barrick on 101. Alternatively, send them a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website here.
