Appeal for witnesses after a burglary in Melbourne where sentimental rings were stolen

Our officers who are investigating a burglary are appealing for information after the home of an elderly woman was broken into.

On Monday, May 22 between 10.30pm and 10.50pm a house on Derby Road was broken into.

A man allegedly forced his way into the house and disturbed the woman whilst she was asleep upstairs. Rings were removed from her fingers and cash was taken before the man left the house.

He was described as very tall and slim. He was wearing dark coloured clothing and he had his face covered.

DC Mark Walker said: “I would particularly like to hear from anyone in the area who was visited by a door-to-door sales person in the days prior to this burglary.”
