Bogus workman cons vulnerable man out of cash

Posted on 21st June 2017

We’re trying to trace a bogus workman who conned a vulnerable man out of cash.

Sometime between 6.30pm and 7pm on Wednesday, June 14, a man visited a house in Chellaston and told the 71-year-old homeowner that he had carried out work on the roof of the property and demanded cash.

No work had been carried out. He took cash and left. The victim lives in a house off Parkway and has described the conman as white, in his 30s with black hair which was swept back. He wore shorts and a t-shirt.

Anyone who has information, or who has seen the man in the area, is asked to call PC Phil Rock on 101 quoting reference 17000252345. Alternatively, send him a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website

We’re also urging residents to be cautious when approached by people claiming to be traders. If you are suspicious, call us on 101.
