We are appealing for information after thieves fled in a car following a burglary in Borrowash.

We were called at around 8.20pm on Wednesday, February 22, after a resident saw a burglar break into their neighbour’s property on Nottingham Road, Borrowash.

The man was believed to have lifted the fence to gain access to the garden, before smashing the glass on the patio doors of the house to gain entry.

The thief searched the drawers in the bedrooms and stole a Bailey and Quinn blue purse, containing cash and bank cards, before being disturbed by the alarm.

He then fled at speed in a silver people carrier out of Appletree Close towards Risley Way. A man and a woman, both wearing dark clothing, were also in the car.

The suspect was described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall, with brown hair. He was aged in his mid-30s and wearing a black coat, possibly leather.

It is believed that thieves had attempted to use one of the bank cards at an ATM machine on Derby Road in Nottingham.
